Dear Jeremiah, I would like to take this opportunity to express appreciation for the quality of service we received from you and Inflatable Boat Specialists this spring when we were in need of two Achilles inflatable boats with motors for use aboard our research vessel in the Aleutian Islands. Model selection, pricing and shipping processes were all done efficiently and with a high degree of personal attention to our needs and satisfaction. The Achilles SU 16 boats with Yamaha four stroke outboards proved ideal for the rigorous environment and conditions we encountered during two charters in Western Alaska waters early this summer. They were used daily for inshore and offshore work often where wind, tide and sea conditions were challenging. The missions included getting scientific personnel ashore on rocky kelp-strewn shores in moderate sea conditions, as well as deploying teams of SCUBA divers to offshore sample sites. I recommend the Achilles/Yamaha motor package as a safe and able platform for working open water and Inflatable Boat Specialists as a user friendly vendor of such equipment. I unexpectedly had to repower my boat at the beginning of the season, and started looking around for a new engine. I decided to go down and talk to Jared as he had been helpful in giving some advice on re-tubing my boat a few months before. IBS helped me all the way from engine selection through financing options, installation help, prop-selection, to on-time delivery, even on top of the July 4th weekend. I am extremely pleased with the engine, a new Yamaha F70LA which is lighter, smaller, quieter, and much more efficient than my old Merc 70 two-stroke. As this boat has been a hands-on project for me, I had the choice of handling my own rigging and installation, and the technical staff was helpful answering questions. I spent considerable effort shopping around online as well as up and down the coast, and I was pleased to find out that straight off the bat, I got the best deal on the motor from a local company with people that are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. If I tell you what my buying experience was like you may think I am related, well I’m not! I was looking for a 12 man Zodiac Rib and was in a hurry to go to Mexico, IBS did the job. They found the boat I was looking for, got it delivered, set up, powered up and prepped for action. I arrived on the agreed upon date and found the whole crew finishing up my boat. I went in the office and by the time the paperwork was done so was the boat. The boat: Jared added a few features to add to the performance and what a boat, now that it has been in the water for some time we can keep her at 41 MPH with 2 of us and our gear. The boat is in Mexico and I took a local family snorkeling and sightseeing, their experience of a lifetime, running with the dolphins for 30 minutes and getting splashed (even touching 1), seeing sea lions from 25’ away, beaching for lunch and snorkeling. The University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) has purchased a Zodiac 20 Man Pro from Inflatable Boat Specialists in June 2010. It has then been outfitted by Inflatable Boat Specialists as a unique high-speed research vessel with state-of-the-art research and communication equipment and is expected to be fully operational in spring 2011. The project has been overseen by Prof. Baschek at the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at UCLA. Prof. Baschek praises the collaboration with Inflatable Boat Specialists: "Inflatable Boat Specialists have been instrumental in converting the original Zodiac 20 man pro into an extremely capable and unique research vessel. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Jared Potts and Ricky Lacey on the extensive planning, outfitting and testing of the vessel and it's many components. The vessel has been significantly modified and is now stuffed with electronics and instrumentation. It is remarkable how flawlessly Jared and Ricky were able to accommodate all our special requirements turning this Zodiac into exactly the research vessel we need. We are now very much looking forward to using the vessel for marine research in Southern California." UCLA's Zodiac has been modified for cost-efficient high-speed research applications in the coastal ocean, such as the airplane-guided in situ measurements of spiral eddies in Southern California Bight. The unique high-speed research Zodiac will enable UCLA to be at the forefront of observational research of these short-lived eddies, starting to close a significant observational gap in oceanography. It will be an ideal platform for coastal, oceanographic, or limnological research for faculty and researchers in several different Departments at UCLA. The Zodiac will be also used for undergraduate and graduate teaching. The vessel offers seating for 8 students or researchers and is fully equipped with research equipment such as water inflow system for temperature, salinity, and chlorophyll, a meteorology station, a current meter covering the upper 50 m of the water column, an instrument taking water samples and measuring temperature and salinity in the upper 600 m of the water column, as well as GPS, compass, radio, high-speed internet communication with shore and airplane, winch and davit. UCLA's research Zodiac will be based in San Pedro and will be operated by the Southern California Marine Institute – a consortium of 12 major universities in Southern California.

The Team at Inflatable Boat Specialist are the best ! Working with Jenna Jared and the rest of the team was seamless . We are first time inflatable boat owners and couldn't have purchased a boat from a more experienced and capable team . The process was smooth ,well coordinated and the team provided unparalleled support throughout the process . The FUTURA Mark III ,custom seat and Launch wheels all arrived in Oregon on time with out a hitch . The set up worked perfectly over the Sunny holidays in Baja.
